Richard Harrison Dead at 77

“The Old Man” of the Hit TV Show Pawn Stars has Died
The Old Man Richard Harrison apparently cut his son out of his will. Although he loved all three of his boys, Christopher is not getting paid. Christopher also seems to have been left out of the family business, have you ever seen anything of him on Pawn Stars before?

According to filings the Old Man wrote in his will in 2017, “I would like to express my love and affection for Christopher Keith Harrison,” the will reads, “however, for purposes of this Will, I have intentionally and with full knowledge failed to provide for him and his issue.”

It seems to be unclear how much the estate is valued. The filing didn’t really say but we can guess on the success of the store, the TV show and merchandising that it was likely substantial.

The Old Man died at 77 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. The will name the beneficiaries as his wife, JoAnne and their three children, Rick, Joseph and Christopher as beneficiaries until it was updated in 2017 and it is not clear why Christopher was removed. The statement alludes to not providing for him or his issue.

Old Man or Old Cranky Man?

Why would A Father Remove his Son from his Will?
I have no real knowledge and I mean no disrespect, but I think about my sons and what they would have to do to be removed from my will and it would take a lot. I would be inclined to regulate the amount of money they would get overtime in a trust or other instrument versus just cutting them off. My god, what sort of issue do you have to have with your son to cut him out of your will.

I have enjoyed Mr. Harrison for many years. I am also a Navy veteran so he is near to my heart. But honestly, either the son of the Old Man must be sort of a horrible person. You just don’t randomly cut your kids out of the will for spite, you have to have a solid reason. Maybe his son disrespected his dad in a way that he believes he no longer wanted a relationship. Maybe he even made it clear he wanted nothing to do with him or from him. I suppose that the Old Man would be justified in this case but you have to wonder. If they were not celebrities, they would have a better shot at privacy.

It also seems like maybe things got petty. There is no news about Christopher of his issue. There is also the possibility, although seemingly unlikely, the old man did not have 100% of his decisions making skills at the time he altered the will. But it appears the family was aware of the decision, although it is unclear when they became aware. If there was any doubt, someone should have been involved earlier to ensure his decision-making skills were truly intact.

Whatever the situation, as a witness of the family on TV, I think they are fairly normal and loving. I feel for their loss and we should all wish them well.
